Oh my goodness, I'm so chuffed to be mentioned in this wonderful piece! Thank you, Sinéad ❤️ I completely agree about the importance of stepping outside our comfort zones. My career became much more fulfilling when I stopped trying to be an expert and started embracing new experiences. The freedom to explore new ideas was my favourite part of working in a startup!
Agree, as a founder and ceo for ten years in my own business, I had so much freedom to say yes to things that lit me up, even if I was paralysed with fear. It’s great to be in environments that support the chances to face the terror!! Thanks again for your lovely words 🥰
I don’t even recall signing up for your newsletter, tbh, but it was just the encouraging, positive missive I needed this morning. I’m going to pick up “Women Living Deliciously” today. What am I watching? I can’t believe I’m just seeing this, but what a gem- Derry Girls is like a laugh and a warm hug. Reminds me of growing up in the rust belt in the 90s, USA, what a time- it was magical.
Oh I’m so so glad that it resonated with you! Was there any particular part? Let me know what you think of the book!! And yes, as an Irish gal I love that show, and it’s also very familiar!!
For me- I feel I’m struggling with getting out of my comfort zone and putting myself out there. I liked that your piece was authentic about how you work with fear. Often the narrative in helping others goes like this- everything was bad, I had an epiphany, and everything was better. The reality I’m finding is that I’m never going to have a day where I have it all figured out- I just have to keep going and encouraging myself and other people. I also liked the reading and watching lists- I really really enjoy reading and good stories and am always looking for good stuff. Cheers :-)
Ah my pleasure, thank you for reading!! And I’m the same, keep the recs coming! And I totally get that, life is not linear, it’s messy and chaotic and sometimes we repeat the same mistakes multiple times in an effort to be taught a lesson from it! Day by day sounds like a perfect approach!
Timely reminder for me that fear and my comfort zone can feel safe but once you’re there for too long it starts to get uncomfortable. Needed this push, thank you!
